Biodiversity Action Plan

Introduction

The Braunton Marsh IDB has conducted a Biodiversity Audit of its District and identified those habitats and species that would benefit from particular management or actions by the IDB.

The Plan identifies objectives for the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity within the Drainage District. Targets and actions will deliver these objectives. The integration will be through annual maintenance programmes and capital works projects. The Action Plan will help to safeguard the biodiversity of the Drainage District now and for future generations.

The Plan is an evolving document that will be reviewed and updated on a regular basis.

Implementation

The Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) can be implemented through sensitive and sympathetic management:

MAINTENANCE PROGRAMMES

A balance between requirements of species and habitats with needs of stock and water level requirements.

This will include Contractors Training Course on Conservation Management.

CAPITAL WORKS

To ensure timing of necessary repair or construction has least impact on species and their habitats.

PARTNERSHIP WITH LBAP ORGANISATIONS/LANDOWNERS

Through an evolving process of meetings, it is hoped all parties will gain an understanding of good practice of Conservation Management, that can be implemented to further success of species and habitats.
